Back to School Blues

With an amazing and memorable summer as the start to our marriage, I am very sad to say goodbye to the good times.  School has begun and that means no more fun :(
Stefan goes to school from 5:45 AM to 8:15 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and then he works full time Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Needless to say, we won't get to see too much of each other.  But I feel extremely blessed to have had such a wonderful summer.  Definitely a beautiful beginning to our life together.  As a tribute to school, I decided to make these adorable apple pops.  What more do you need to get pumped for long nights of studying and hours of homework? .. Joking, obviously.

They are just another variation to the chocolate-covered Oreo.  White chocolate with red food coloring for the skin, butterscotch for the flesh, mini-chocolate chips for the seeds and a pretzel stick for the stem.  Fun food for everyone starting school this year!

Not so happy about starting school..

My family is in town for pre-wedding festivities.. aka making tissue paper balls and other decor.  I offered to tend the twins yesterday while my parents ran some errands.  They are the most rambunctious set of 6 year olds you will ever meet.  They can't go 5 minutes without touching something or asking me consecutive questions.  I decided to do a "hands-on" activity so they would get their "hands off" stuff in my house.
We made these cute little bagel pizza faces, and other random decorated pizzas.  Super fun for kids and super tasty for everyone!
Notice that the twins initials are B.S. .. Tell me that doesn't make you smile (:

A Bridal Shower for Brittney

My big sister is getting married! Ah! It was fun to celebrate her bridal shower yesterday.
It was a bridal shower of firsts, cutest idea ever.
Each person was assigned a different "first" e.g. First Christmas, then there gift corresponded with their assignment.  I got first decoration.  I saw this idea on some blog somewhere and thought it would make the perfect first decoration!

Cutting out all the leaves

This is the final product!
I got up super early to start making treats for the shower, and then hardly anybody ate any!
What the heck?
Haha it was super fun to bake though... and time consuming! Wow!

Yumm carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting
Chocolate covered Oreo's
So proud of my work (:

Sayonara Summer

With it being one of the last days of summer, I wanted to do something special for breakfast.  I decided to try these cute watermelon pancakes! They were super fun to make, but next time I am going to try and make them a little more precise because the batter spreads fast and then they look all messy.
But they sure were fun and they still taste the same!

Yay for Watermelon Pancakes!

July Jubilation

SURPRISE!
We got to celebrate Stefan's birthday... yet again with a surprise birthday party!
Thanks to all those who helped me make it happen! Stefan was very surprised both by his party, and his new 42" plasma screen TV.  I love to spoil him (:

Notice the mullet?..

You know what the summer is fantastic for?.. Bar-be-ques! We have enjoyed some wicked awesome BBQ this summer!
This skewers were so fun to make and so yummy to taste!

And We'll Celebrate in the Golden State

We got the opportunity to visit my family in California and also celebrate Stefan's 22nd birthday.  We had so much fun! I am so thankful for my parent's who not only helped make our trip possible, but went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time.

On Friday, we took a trip down to Santa Monica Beach.  It was such a good time! We did it Ruesch Family style with a cooler full of drinks, and tons of snacks. Umbrellas for shade, boogie boards, shovels and pails.  The works.
On our way to catch some rays

At the beach, us girls laid out...

Stefan built our dream home out of sand...
...and he learned to boogie board!

All in all, we made some pretty priceless memories!
Stefan and Brooke
My  life <3

We had fun with the twins, they are obsessed with Stefan.  He is so good with them, he plays with them even when they are obnoxious which, at the age of 6, is pretty often for them.  They love to jump in our pictures...
Sydney just got home from her 3rd Jaw Distraction

We went out to Red Robbin .... Yumm, for Stefan's Birthday dinner.
I surprised him with self-tying bow ties for his pre-birthday present, he has been wanting them since before our wedding.

My attempt at tying a bow tie.

I love doing the twins' hair.  Whenever Jamie comes to visit they get to enjoy new hairstyles because I am the only one with the patience to play with their hair... and make it look nice.  I like to get my inspiration from other mother's blogs and try them out on the twins.  This was my creation for church on Sunday.

The twins both enjoyed a heart shaped flippy ponytail.
Brooke has got some teeth missing.
After Church...
He's so good with the twins! He really spoiled Sydney this whole trip.  He painted her toe-nails and her fingernails.
And he enjoyed some good, clean, wii boxing action.  We all enjoyed watching him too..
Monday
We had fun in the sun on the big inflatable water slide
Basically twins.

We were in the very front car
It roughed me up a little bit... haha

We had so much fun in California and it was really hard to say goodbye.  I am so grateful to my parent's who are so charitable.  They did everything to make sure we had a great vacation.  They are two of the most amazing people I know in this world.  My dad is so charitable, he gives and gives to people.  I hope to be more like him one day.
We partied hard and took lots of pictures on our trip. Enjoy!
